Skulls and Skateboards.

It's this kind of shit that gets the creative side of your brain sparking. SO GOOD.

Ball/Prom.

Last night set the scene for one of the biggest nights in a Student Flights consultant's year - the Annual National Ball. This year's theme: Prom.

Considering that last year, by 1am we were kicked out of Ball (held in a Sydney venue I shall neglect to name) as a nation - this year promises to be bigger and better than ever. Hopefully no-one cheekily kicks a bouncer in the leg.

As per usual I am too lazy to make any kind of preparations, but typical Bronni style comes through in the form of a smashing little black dress I got at some op-shop about 5 years ago for around three dollars. I love it but have never had the opportunity or occasion to wear it out in public... this was the perfect thing for the job.

So I went in that, with no date, dusty pink lips and a black lace headband borrowed from Sarah at the last minute, when I realised the taxi was on it's way and my hair was not at all done. And fuck, we had the blurriest, best night ever. You should have been there.

Acquisitive adj. Keen to Acquire.

Home sick... get high... listen to exceptional music... talk and learn with friends... then have alone time in the bathroom, or somewhere, to cultivate new ideas. Always have a pen and paper, or a screen to take notes. Don't get stuck without them! I could wear this with this... I could say that with that. So swift and so flickering.

Sometimes it's hard to recall such a continuous acquisition of excellent ideas.

I've mentioned previously here how the fictional character I've most related to - and will always relate best to - is a young girl: Milly-Molly-Mandy. I hope to shortly begin a series of posts, modeled after the awkwardness demonstrated in this photograph, a portrait by Mr D. Hammet, himself (I like to think of him as the Terry Richardson of his day)...

... Because society is slowly coming to the realisation that the era of personal style blogs must come to an end. For me, this space has always been more about the inspiration... the day to day stuff... the things that grind my gears enough to get me excited about something, or what, to wear. I think it's more about the self-branding... One of my all time favourite style blogs belongs to the fabulous Rumi Neely. I really think she's got it down.

But that's not all, is it? There's still more. Because, at the end of the day, what we wear on the outside can make us feel really good. It's like a blatant 'this is me today' to the world - whether the world wants to listen or not. And when I'm wearing something that is super comfortable, and super clean, and makes me feel super cool, I get happy, and I do a little happy skip. Then I stop for a little while and just think about how lucky I am that I have a job, and a nice apartment and nice clothes to wear, when some poor people have nothing.

I think it'd be nice to have one little photo that would encapsulate and summarise that feeling, when one achieved it.

And that's the extent of my interest in fashion (except for how buttons are made. That's quite fascinating). It doesn't get any deeper than that. Oh, and I want to be a Vans Girl so hard. Broadcasting from Melbourne for the coolest brand I can think of? Of THAT, I'm sure I'd be capable. But that's it.

Lately Kicks... Winter...

...and it's all about keeping warm and buying new things - where the budget will allow. Winter's SNAPPED into Melbourne and it's just been freezing.

I was getting a bit worried about how little money I had to spend on nice things, but it's remarkable just how happy a new pair of little black Vans can make me (it might even be a bit weird, just how happy); so fuelled by the end of June sales and the desperate need for new kicks, I splurged. Oh yes, it's all about the kicks, guys. I have actually become a great dirty, great shoe-lord, and have assembled quite the army of canvas and rubber over the past two weeks.

And hand-me-downs! I've been REAPING lately. They are actually the best, and without having to sell my soul, this post is pretty much sponsored by Claire - the girl who lives downstairs. She was out of wardrobe space and, as a result, I was dumped on by a winter's supply of flannys, basics and the odd extra-interesting garment (note also: the ziggy-zag shoes below - brand new in the post and the wrong size. She said they reminded her of me and refused to send them back. What a neighbour!).

And to think I thought I'd never be one of those 'shoe girls'.

She.

She was strangely resilient to drugs, alcohol and destruction; that was her super power. Everyone wants a super power -- that was hers.

He was defeated and retreated. She went on to be boisterous and beautiful, strong and dignified. She used her super power to go to those kind of places, and to protect those who weren't as lucky as she was. She was some kind of missionary I suppose... or at least she wanted to be.

But she wasn't sure how to apply that sort of thing to real life - which was, never in fact, meant to be a party.

New Kicks.

I am in love. I don't need a boyfriend. Unless his name's Van. Then that's kinda creepy anyway.
