Where I live currently, things like this (brands, dressing nicely) are less significant than a raindrop in a summer storm anyway, however I'm moving to Melbourne in 5 months and I love to go around and see the effort that everyone goes to to dress every day (as careless as they appear). Melbourne-ites are intriguing, where I'm concerned. There are so many different styles, trends, races and ideas tripping around the streets, and yet everybody there seems so unaware of how they look or what they are wearing, and tend to concentrate instead on being friendly to the people around them, and the amazing food and coffee that is on offer. It's like they are essentially comfortable in their skin and their style - they don't need to worry about it.
Anyway, there have ever only been two It bags on my radar: the Chanel Flap Bag - Large, in grey; and the Oversized Mulberry Alexa, in oak. Both understated classics which I believe will never go out of style, and intend to purchase as soon as I have the lifestyle to fund such retail habits (when I can do that without the guilt, I'll know I've made it).
Until that day, though, I will be sticking with my trusty Country Road canvas bags, which I love and use 'til they literally fall to pieces (no mean feat for these beauties). Here in Aus they are a high-school staple - the ultimate kudos go to those who sport the most broken-in ones (and whose mothers apparently have large stocks of nappy-san for a colour tight wash!). I am only just into my grungy early twenties and haven't outgrown them yet... Right now I'm on a black rubber-coated one: class and practicality all rolled into one. I swear, they hold anything you could possibly hope to carry with you.
When I get my Alexa, it will certainly get it's cost in wear.
